Fastener Industries, Inc., does not consider its product in it solid form to the end user a physical or health hazard. Subsequent operations such as welding, melting, abrazing, cutting or processing in any other fashion may produce potentially hazardous fumes or dust which can be inhaled, swallowed, or come in contact with the skin or eyes.

Flush well with running water to remove particulate. Obtain medical attention.
Skin Contact:
Brush or remove excess dust. Wash skin area well with soap and water. Launder clothing and/or uniforms.

Seek medical attention if large quantities of material have been ingested.
Effect of Exposure:
No toxic effects would be expected from exposure to the solid form of ferrous and nonferrous metals. Prolonged repeated exposure to fumes or dust generated during welding, heating, brazing or cutting without proper protection or ventilation may or may not cause adverse health effects associated with the listed constituents in excess of OSHA’s permissible exposure limits established in 29 CFR, Subpart 2 (see Section II).

Possible Signs and Symptoms of Exposure to Welding Fume, Dust, and Gases:
Short Term Exposure:
Metallic taste, Nausea, Tightness of chest, Fever, Irritation of eyes, nose, throat and skin, Loss of consciousness due to lack of oxygen.
Long Term Exposure:
There are no adverse effects from the products in their solid form. Adverse effects may or may not result from long-term exposure to dust, fumes, gases, etc., that occur by way of subsequent operations on the product. We believe there is no reliable scientific studies which show that workers exposed to operations with our products suffer increased incidence of cancer or other disease because of exposure to our product.

Special Precautions
Use good shop practices to keep dust and fume concentrations at a minimum.
This material is protected with coatings such as oils, rust inhibitors, and other coatings. If these coatings are suspect to be contaminated, special precautions, such as in-house process control and protective equipment appropriate to the nature of the suspected contaminants should be taken to avoid possible exposure when handling.
